Blogging for Dollars

Friday, October 14th, 2005

It appears that blogging for dollars is the latest craze. I have to admit, I need to get to work. I don’t mind blogging, but I haven’t done much of it. The more I’ve done lately, the happier I’ve been with the results. It’s never a bad idea to expand your horizons, and blogging is one good way to do that.

I’ve been finding a number of websites lately that explain how to blog professionally, and most of them point to Google AdSense as the answer. I’m sure it must be of some help, because you now see it on literally every blog out there. If you can stay motivated, I’m sure blogging is a great way to add content to your website, and also is a great way to stay fresh and creative.

I hate Google!

Friday, October 14th, 2005

I’ve been hearing that more and more. I myself don’t really hate Google, but I can see how people get emotional about them. Their constant updates cause turmoil and grief to millions of innocent (or sometimes guilty) webmasters.

Even webmasters who make a lot of money from their AdSense program fear being kicked out for real or imagined crimes. In some ways, Google is HAL, the soul-less super-computer who runs the world! Dealing with an angry robot is not something people want to be bothered doing.

Well, this small rant was not really directed at anyone: it’s merely a description of a phenomena I’ve begun to notice regularly.

Vacation in Miami Beach

Friday, October 14th, 2005

I plan on taking another vacation in Miami Beach Florida early in 2006. The last time I went I head a great time. I stayed in one of the Art Deco Hotels in SoBe (South Beach).

One of my favorite parts was waking up each morning and walking down the BeachWalk. My wife and I would have a great time just basking in the sunlight and people watching. People on beaches are generally in a great frame of mind, and very friendly. It’s easy to understand why. With the sun beating down, and the breeze gently relaxing you, it’s easy to feel that you’ve gotten away from your troubles, no matter what they are. Well, enjoy the article, and hopefully we’ll all be enjoying Miami Beach Florida on our next vacation soon.

Gold mutual funds

Tuesday, October 18th, 2005

With inflation on the rise, it’s time to invest in gold mutual funds. Gold is usually considered to be an excellent hedge against inflation. When inflation is up, gold tends to rise.

Purchasing shares in a gold mutual fund is a good idea, because these companies are specialists in the sector, and can usually identify the best performing gold companies.

Best index funds

Friday, October 21st, 2005

I need to invest in the best index funds that money can buy. The market is looking very choppy to me, I can say that for sure. I can’t help thinking that index funds make a difference for a few reasons: the indices nearly always beat individual stocks over a great number of years.

Add to this the fact that there is some safety in diversification, and you see why investing in index funds is almost always worth the effort.
